the single red rose was given to me earlier this week by my husband
the candlesticks have been in my family back to my great grandmother, who used them to light the candles of Shabbat
that’s my husband’s arm, and wine, and salad
we had slow-cooked chili for dinner.

“Peace upon you, oh ministering angels. .שלום עליכם מלאכי השרת”

Phyllis Wohl:

Grammy would be pleased, but your great-grandmother would be way beyond proud to see the candlesticks being used for Shabbat.

Jeanne Hewell-Chambers:

I can think of nothing to add to what’s already been said: beautiful, rich tradition, love, and matrilineal history.

Karen Wohl:

Jeanne, in saying that, had you figured out that Phyllis Wohl is my mom, and Grammy was how I referred to her mother/my grandmother, and it was *her* mother who used these candlesticks? Four generations of my matrilineal line.

Thank you for your wonderful insight and comment. 😀❤️

Jeanne Hewell-Chambers:

the matrilineal line is so rich, so powerful. powerfull, i mean.
